The tour begins at 9:00 AM with pickup from your hotel in Cairo or Giza by your tour guide. You’ll head to the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization (NMEC) for a fascinating half-day visit. The main exhibition hall showcases the four essential crafts that shaped Egyptian civilization: pottery, wood, textiles, and ornaments. Among the remarkable displays, you’ll find the world’s oldest prosthetic toe, a 30,000-year-old human skeleton, the Kaaba cover (Kiswah)—the last one made in Egypt during President Nasser’s era—and the Mahmal, the ceremonial structure used to transport the cover to Saudi Arabia in a grand annual parade.
NMEC is the first museum in the world to offer a comprehensive narrative of Egyptian civilization from prehistory to modern times. Exhibits span several historical periods, including Predynastic, Pharaonic, Greco-Roman, Coptic, Islamic, and Modern Egypt. Highlights also include the Kaaba key and the Clepsydra, an ancient timekeeping device. One of the most captivating parts of the museum is the Royal Mummies Hall, where you can see the famous royal mummies that were transferred in a grand parade from the Egyptian Museum in Tahrir.
After the tour concludes, you will be transferred back to your hotel.
